You will age faster if you have inflammation in your body. This is not something most doctors talk about, but, it is a fact that chronic inflammation causes most diseases and also causes you to age faster.
This will sound very simple, but the number one thing to slow down the aging process and prevent inflammation is, do not eat inflammation causing foods. What are inflammation causing foods? Unfortunately this is what most people eat. It is all the processed foods and commercially prepared foods. Too many carbohydrates. White sugar, white rice and white flour. Most of the oils people use in cooking cause inflammation. This includes: corn oil, soy oil, vegetable oil, and margarine. Better alternatives are olive oil, coconut oil and butter.
You should avoid corn and anything made with it. This will be a real challenge because they are putting corn syrup in almost everything these days. Also, cattle and poultry are fed corn, we eat the meat, we get the effect of the corn. To say nothing of all the junk foods we eat that are made with corn. This will cause chronic inflammation, obesity and illness. Remember, animals are fed corn and grain to make them fat as quick as possible. This is not your goal.
Excess weight is a cause of inflammation, and a result of inflammation. It will cause you to age more quickly. Stay in shape. If you sit too much, you need to exercise. A sedentary lifestyle will promote inflammation in your body and you will look and feel older than you need to. It’s important to keep moving. A short walk is much better for you than sitting on the couch. Even if you think you are tired. You have to use energy to make energy. It’s like use it or loose it, if you want to slow down the aging process. If you’re not in shape now, thats ok, it’s never too late to start. Just remember to start slowly to avoid injuries.
Stress will also cause inflammation and aging. I know stress is difficult to avoid, but you’ll feel much better if you learn Spring Forest Qigong, learn to meditate, or do yoga, or tai chi. Going out and enjoying friends, and laughing will have an anti stress, and anti inflammatory effect on your body also. Go to a comedy club and see if you can laugh so much you get kicked out. It’s possible, I’ve done it. To find out if you have inflammation, ask your doctor for a c-reactive protein test. It’s a blood test, done in the office and not a big deal. But, you do have to ask for it. Remember, you CAN stop inflammation, and slow down the aging process.
