Baby diapers are the first thing you worry about when your child is born. Your child nearly ends up having 5000+ diaper changes in the first few years of life. Hence choosing the right type of diaper is extremely important. Basically there are two types of diapers for you to choose from, basic cloth diapers and disposable diapers. There are several factors which will influence your choice for a particular diaper. These factors are your child’s utmost comfort, cost of diaper and of course last but not the least, the impact on Mother Nature, our environment.
Disposable diapers will always rank high on your choice as they are easy to use, handle and they also cause less leakage. It is very easy to carry and use disposable ones if you are traveling with your child. They have a very good fit and help your kid get a sound sleep at night since they are quite absorbent. While the pros are many, these diapers have equal number of cons. Almost 75% of the babies who use diapers which are disposable get diaper rashes and thereby harm their skin. The chemical which helps create this unique absorbent property in diapers is TSS, which can cause allergies to your child. They also cause a lot of untreated waste which pollutes the environment. Besides it is very difficult to potty train your kids if they are using disposable diapers since wetness is something your child will never feel. Hence it will get difficult to train your child.
Compared to the disposable diapers, cloth ones are cheaper though the initial investment is high. Besides you can wash and reuse them not only for your current child but also for your subsequent children which makes it further economical. These baby diapers are made from cotton fibers and hence provide more breathing space for the skin as compared to the disposable diapers. Hence instances of rashes are less with cloth diapers.
The only problem with the ones made of cloth is that you cannot use them while traveling as they are difficult to pin up and change and they can get messy as they have less absorbent qualities as compared to disposable diapers. Though the good news is that, now you can get cloth diapers with a Velcro or a snap fastener also.
