What to Expect From Your Tailor When He Starts Work on Your New Suit and Bespoke Shirt

Once you’ve decided on the details of your new suit and bespoke shirt, your tailor will take all the necessary measurements so they can bring it to life. This isn’t just about the numbers, as it’s perfectly possible to get two gentlemen with identical measurements only to have the same suit and bespoke shirt look great on one but terrible on the other. It’s also about giving your tailor a chance to get a feel for the way you stand and the shape of your body so they can create something unique to you.

Your tailor will generally spend around 10 minutes taking measurements notes and photographs so they have everything they need to get going.

I’d recommend that you come to the fitting with a jacket and a pair of shoes similar to the ones you’ll be wearing with the suit and bespoke shirt, as this provides the tailor with some useful guidelines while they’re measuring. Other than that, it’s just a question of relaxing and standing as you do naturally to ensure the accuracy of the measurements.

Your tailor will use these measurements to create a pattern and then call you back for a fitting to test their first draft. This is more for the tailor’s benefit than yours, as it allows them to see how everything will work in practice. As before, stay relaxed, and also bring a shirt with you, as well as the shoes you’ll be wearing. Don’t be surprised if the tailor wants to make a lot of adjustments at this stage, as this is all part of the process.

Then it’s just a question of letting them and their team prepare your new suit and bespoke shirt for you!

Trends come and go, but great style is always in fashion. If you find the right tailor, follow their advice and are willing to invest the necessary money in your suit, it will last you a lifetime and help you always look your very best, regardless of what fashion dictates.

An off-the-shelf suit just can’t compare with one that’s been hand-crafted by an experienced tailor when it comes to comfort, style and longevity. After all, no two bodies are the same, so it follows that no two men’s perfect suits will be exactly the same. That’s why each and every hand-made suit has a personality all its own, making it a truly unique investment that will give you years of pleasure.

I hope one day to meet you and create your perfect suit for you!
