Bucharest is a city that has a long history of political unrest and high crime rates, and bullet holes scattered throughout the city are not uncommon. Do not let this dismay you however, as the people in Bucharest can be very friendly and there is much to do while you are here. The gay venues that you will be looking for are available, but often present in quieter forms than in many other large cities, simply due to the political nature of Bucharest. This does not mean that you will not be able to locate them however, you will simply need to know where to look.
Some establishments are very well known throughout the city, despite the social conservatism of the country. If you like flamboyant good times with a little bit of hedonism, you may want to check out The Office, one of the most legendary Bucharest gay bars. The nightlife here is excellent with good music and a friendly crowd and if you like things a little wild, The Office is where you want to be.
If however you are looking for something a little more intimate, you may want to try out the Green Hours 22 Club Jazz Cafe, one of the quieter but trendier bars. This trendy bar requires reservations as it is packed every night, but the live music and keen artistic vibe will definitely appeal to your artsy sensitivities.
When you are traveling to Bucharest, do not be dismayed by the socially conservative nature of the city. There are plenty of gay venues to visit to ensure you have a fabulous time here.
